LFP or lead-acid for solar storage?

Reviewed by SolvSolar · Last reviewed:

LFP (LiFePO4) is the better choice for almost all solar storage today. It delivers 4,000–6,000 cycles at 80–90% depth of discharge, needs no maintenance and lasts 10–15 years. Lead-acid is cheaper upfront but gives only 500–1,200 cycles at 50% DoD, so its lifetime cost per usable kWh normally ends up higher.
