String inverter or microinverter?

Choose a string inverter for uniform, unshaded roofs and microinverters for complex or partly shaded ones. String inverters cost less per watt and are simpler to service. Microinverters and DC optimisers perform panel-level MPPT, recovering more energy on multi-orientation roofs, and they simplify rapid-shutdown compliance in markets where that code applies.
